PhD scholarships are now available at Australia’s leading university-led climate science initiative, the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science.
The Centre led initiative includes research hubs at five universities - the University of Tasmania, Monash University, Australian National University, The University of Melbourne and the University of NSW - CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology and multiple internationally outstanding research organizations.
The PhD scholarships will be based at the University of New South Wales. Successful candidates can expect to collaborate with partners in the Centre of Excellence in Australia and overseas.
A targeted scholarship focused on terrestrial processes with a particular emphasis on how crops can be parameterised in regional or global climate models is also available.
A second targeted scholarship based on the modelling of urban climates is also available
Successful applicants will have an outstanding undergraduate record, with a first class honours (or equivalent) or a Masters (by research) degree. Most likely the successful applicant will be strong in quantitative sciences.
For outstanding students without Australian or New Zealand permanent residency, the deadline is August 22.
For further information, please contact Professor Andy Pitman (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Applicants that find topics or supervisors of interest at www.climatescience.org.au based at one of the Centre’s partner institutions are welcome to contact Professor Pitman for advice, or to contact those researchers directly.
