Thesis Title

Carbonate system dynamics within a tropical algal ridge

Aero has always had an insatiable curiosity about how the physical world works and the natural processes that govern different environmental systems. His undergraduate tenure at the Australian National University saw him involved in a number of student research projects as part of the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours)-Science program and ultimately lead him down the path to marine biogeochemistry. His honours project is looking at calcification and dissolution of carbonates within the algal ridge framework on One Tree Island Reef. The project hopes to provide more insight into the vulnerability of coral reef structures in the face of predicted environmental changes brought about by anthropogenic CO2 emissions.
