Jennifer is investigating the biogeochemical response of the Southern Ocean to changes in overturning circulation.

She earned her PhD from Duke University in 2011, where she studied the impact of ocean physics on nutrients, productivity, and air-sea CO2 flux in the North Pacific transition zone. This work earned her the Dean's Award for Outstanding PhD Student Manuscript in 2010, and was supported by several fellowships: U.S. National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship, NASA N.C. Space Grant, and a Katherine Goodman Stern Fellowship.

Prior to this, she earned a Masters in Space Studies from the International Space University (2003), and a Bachelor of Science in Symbolic System and Biological Sciences from Stanford University (2002).
