Biography
Andrew investigates the links between human-induced climate change and extreme events. He is using the Weather@Home Australia-New Zealand regional climate model to study the influences of anthropogenic climate change and natural climate variability on the risk of heatwaves and heavy rainfall events occurring. He is also interested in the timing of an anthropogenic emergence in climate extremes.
Andrew completed his undergraduate degree in Meteorology at the University of Reading in 2011. His final year project involved examining the influence of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation on tropical cyclones affecting Queensland. He then studied for a PhD in Climate Science at the University of New South Wales where he investigated aspects of extreme rainfall variability in Australia.
