Biography

Ian Macadam is a specialist in projections of future regional climate conditions. He has over 10 years of experience generating information on regional climate change and disseminating it to research, government and private-sector stakeholders.

Much of his work has been in Australia, where he obtained a PhD from the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. This PhD focused on the use of climate model simulations in climate change impact assessments.

While at the university, he played a key role in a partnership between the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science and the New South Wales Government, coordinating the delivery of climate projections for New South Wales and project managing the development of a climate data portal.

Ian has been a member of the climate impacts team at CSIRO and has also worked at the Met Office Hadley Centre. He has contributed to numerous scientific reports and papers on climate change and its impacts, including the Third Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Ian is currently a member of the UK Met Office’s Climate Information for International Development Team, where his work involves analysing and quantifying the impacts of climate change and associated risks in developing countries.
