Thesis Title
Actual water usage and associated microclimate benefits of urban forests in mitigating UHI.
Biography
Justin's research is on further quantifying and reducing uncertainty in biosphere-atmosphere moisture fluxes and their impact on UHI through the measurement of actual moisture uptake of urban forests. Urban green space, and particularly trees are seen as a key strategy in helping to reduce the Urban heat Island effect and providing a healthier urban environment through shade and evapotranspiration. Justin's research involves looking at actual water uptake of trees to better understand biosphere-atmosphere moisture fluxes.
